Which units make up A2 Biology?
Three: WBI14 (Energy, Environment, Microbiology and Immunity), WBI15 (Respiration, Internal Environment, Coordination and Gene Technology) and WBI16 (Practical Skills in Biology II). Together with the AS units they complete the full IAL Biology A-level.
How is the A* awarded in IAL Biology?
You need a grade A across the full A-level and a high UMS average across Units 4 and 5 — which is why those two units get the heaviest technique training in this course. Strong Unit 4 and 5 scores are what separate A from A*.

Where do A2 students lose the most marks?
Synoptic questions answered without linking back to AS content, data questions where the figures are described rather than analysed, and Unit 6 answers missing the experimental-design vocabulary. Each of these has dedicated training in the course, taught from real past papers.
